Sharon Gutjahr

Sharon Gutjahr, age 81, of Nashville, IL, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024 at 7:35 p.m., in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL.
Sharon was born on February 19, 1943 at home in Swanwick, IL, a daughter to Everett and Nora (Schatte) Guenther. In August 1987, she married Albert J. Gutjahr at First Baptist Church in Pinckneyville, IL and he survives. Sharon was a member of the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. She worked at Schumacher’s in Pinckneyville, IL handling parts until their closing. Sharon worked for Nierman Equipment, Nashville, IL handling parts.  Her true love was babysitting for many years, she loved all the kids she babysat.  Sharon loved quilting, taking care of her yard, playing cards, especially canasta and spending time with her family.  Her and Albert would take family vacations to Cozy Cove in Kentucky Lake, one week a year for 30 years.
Survivors include her loving husband of 36 years, Albert; one daughter, Teresa (Perry) Kasper of Collinsville, IL; five sisters, Marleen Penick of Waterloo, IL, Alberta DeLapp of Arnold, MO, Thelma (Ronald) Reiman of Ava, IL, Betty (Ed) Birchler of Sparta, IL, and Kathy Guenther of Waterloo, IL; one brother-in-law, Charles Gutjahr of Coulterville, IL; three sisters-in-law, Kathy Kane of Marissa, IL, Barbara Jetton of Coulterville, IL, and Charlotte Gutjahr of New Athens, IL; special friends, Katie (Shawn) Knight and their daughter Emma of Lively Grove, IL; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Roberta Robinson-Dowdell; brothers-in-law, William Penick, Olan DeLapp, Dale Robinson, Fred Dowdell, Charles Kane, James Jetton, Thomas Gutjahr, and Robert Gutjahr; and sisters-in-law, Judith (David) Robb, Viola Spelman and Joan Gutjahr.
A graveside service will be held at Swanwick Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, IL on Friday, March 29, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor James Clardy officiating. Interment will be in Swanwick Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, IL.
Visitation will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
