A 44-year-old Benton died and a 36-year-old Du Bois woman and her three juvenile passengers were injured in a two-vehicle accident on State Route 154 just east of U.S. Route 51 in Perry County on Saturday, February 3 at about 8:39 p.m.
According to a press release from Illinois State Police Troop 10, preliminary information indicates the driver of a 2003 gray Dodge Durango, Lisa A. Boling was traveling westbound on State Route 154 when for unknown reasons Boling reportedly crossed the center line and struck a 1999 red Chevrolet Blazer driven by Ralph L. Jones head-on. Jones was pronounced dead on-scene. Boling was flown to a regional hospital with serious injuries. Boling’s vehicle was occupied with three minor children passengers. A 4-year-old Du Bois boy was flown to a regional hospital with serious injuries. A 1-year-old Du Bois girl and 2-year-old Du Bois boy were transported by ambulance to an area hospital with minor injuries.
