FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Community Call to Action: Warming Centers in Washington County

In response to the severe weather conditions forecasted by the National Weather Service located in St Louis MO, there is a potential need to open one or more warming centers for individuals unable to shield themselves from the elements.

As we prioritize the safety and well-being of our community members, the Washington County Emergency Management Agency is reaching out to Faith Communities and Civic Organizations for their support in opening warming centers. If your organization is willing to provide a warming center, please contact us at 618-327-4800 ext 345 or reach out to us via our social media channels.

A comprehensive list of available warming centers will be compiled and posted on our official channels sometime on Friday or Saturday, depending on the level of interest and participation. We encourage organizations with the capacity to assist to come forward, as collaboration is key in ensuring the safety of our community.

Individuals in need of Warming Center services are kindly asked to contact the Washington County IL Sheriff’s Office at 618-327-4800 ext 113.
