Mrs. Leah Marquard of Belleville, departed this life at her residence in Belleville, on Friday, October, 9, 2015 at 7:45 A.M. She had attained the age of 72 years, 1 month and 12 days.

Mrs. Marquard was born on August 27, 1943 in St. Charles, the daughter of Robert and Virginia (Randall) Denson. She was united in marriage to Arnold Marquard at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Nashville, on November 24, 1966 and he preceded her in death on November 2, 2011.

Leah started her working career as an English teacher at Nashville Community High School, where she taught for four years. Subsequently she worked for I.R.S. as a tax law specialist for 29 years until her retirement. Before moving to Belleville, she was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Johannisburg. Leah enjoyed spending time at the lake and loved gardening.

Left to mourn her passing are her three children, Keith Marquard of St. Louis, Mo., Kevin Marquard of Belleville, and Kristine Marquard and husband Jeff Marhanka of Belleville; one grandson, Nick McGlasson; one sister, Sara Jung of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters-in-law, Marion (Roland Jones) Oelze of Nashville, and Luella (Leroy) Lisk of Edwardsville; five nephews, Bill, Jeff and Dean Oelze and Chris and Matt Jung; one niece, Kim Oelze; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother-in-law, Elmer Oelze, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at the St. John United Church of Christ in Johannisburg, on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 11 AM with Pastor Bill Groennert officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville, on Friday from 5 PM until 8 PM and on Saturday from 7:30 AM until 9 AM and at the church from 10 AM until the service hour.

Should friends desire memorials may be made to the St. John’s United Church of Christ or Family Hospice and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
