Daniel Steinkamp of St. Louis, son of the late William and Ida Steinkamp passed away Monday. Friends paid their respects at the Kutis Affton Chapel on Gravois Thursday 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. and the funeral 9 A.M. Friday at the funeral home with burial 10 A.M. at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery.

Steve and Gina Droege attended the St Louis Cardinal-Chicago Cubs baseball game at Busch Stadium Tuesday morning.

Geoff and Karen Jones and Melva Doelling dined together Saturday in honor of Mother’s Day.

A couple of roofs in Johannisburg are repainted, as Ryan Droege of Jackson, MO was the Master Painter at the home of his parents Steve and Droege Wednesday. Lunch was at the home of Stanley and Ora Mae Droege. Later Laura Paszkiewicz and Veronica Lizewski joined Steve, Gina and Ryan for supper.

Guess farmers won’t be busy in the fields this week, as they were last week because of the rain.

On a beautiful spring day Thursday Elva Haier, Ora Mae Droege, Darleen Sandeinrick and Shirley Kochen classmates of OHS class of 1957 dined together for lunch at Rachel’s Garden. When we dine at Rachel’s Garden Darleen is only 10 minutes away, but Thursday it turned out she drove the furthest as she and her husband were camping at Rend Lake, it’s over an hour away.

May 15, 1942 the Women’s Army Corps was founded, should fly the flag half-staff until sunset.

Mother’s Day dinner guests at the home of Brian and Susan Wisneski and Kyrsten Sunday were Stanley and Ora Mae Droege, Steve Droege, Blake Wisneski, Serena Grapperhaus and their son Ryker and Kyle Pingsterhaus.

Rain, rain, go away… I think we have had plenty for now. I just realized my back gutters need to be cleaned out, it’s on my list. The farmers won’t be able to get in the fields again until this dries up. MLRP, you should have lots of company until then.

Hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day and were surrounded by your family and pampered all the day long.

Seeing lots of graduation announcements and pictures of upcoming ceremonies. Congratulations to all the graduates who have worked so hard to accomplish their goal.

I heard that ‘Rice and Fries’ in Centralia has closed and that Saturday was their last day of being open for business. Hmm, gonna have to find a new place to have lunch after shopping.

There will be a potluck graduation celebration for Shelby Edwards on Sunday afternoon, May 17 at 1:00. Shelby is graduating with a Masters Degree in Social Work and has gained employment with the Community Resource Center in Centralia.

There should be a good plan in place next week for the upcoming Memorial Day Observance to be held at the Richview Cemetery on that Monday morning, May 25, at10:00. Nancy Russell is working on the program that is sure to lift your heart. Plan on attending and bring your lawn chairs. We are blessed to have such a beautiful cemetery, but this comes at a cost. Please consider making a donation to the cemetery for upkeep.

The Richview United Methodist Church Women’s Prayer and Share group meet every Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the church: Local women meeting together to pray for the concerns of each other, the community and the world. Bring your prayer requests and join the group.

The RUMC Youth Group meet on Sunday evenings from 5-6. If you have small children up thru grade school age, send them over to hear stories of the Bible and to enjoy some good eats.
